Boosting Conversions Through
Remarketing

Customers want brands to send them highly-targeted content that feels like it was
crafted just for them. And no marketing strategy does this better than email
retargeting. Retargeting uses information about a customer, such as browsing and
purchase history, to create targeted content that compels and converts.

Email retargeting can be used for a number of reasons, but it is especially effective
when attempting to bring back inactive subscribers or encourage repeat purchases
from existing customers. When paired with CRM retargeting (detailed below), email
retargeting can help to drive up both sales and conversions for your business.

Retargeting with emails is one of the most powerful tactics marketers can utilize to
increase conversions, as it allows you to reengage with your current and past
customers in a personalized way. Here are some examples and strategies to use
when creating retargeting emails that will drive your subscribers into action.

Cart Abandonment
Retarget your website visitors who haven’t made a purchase by sending them an
email that reminds them of the items they left in their carts, or of similar products
that you think they might be interested in. You can even add a sense of urgency to
the email by letting them know that the item they were interested in is about to sell
out, giving them another push to convert.

Cross-Sell and Upsell
Remarketing tools such as cookies and pixel tracking allow you to see what your
customers are looking at on your website, which makes it easy to suggest related
products in your emails. This can lead to an average increase in conversions of 10%,
according to Hal Open Science.

Encourage Returning Visits
Send an email containing a coupon or free shipping offer to anyone who hasn’t
visited your site for a long time. This will give them a reason to come back and can
boost your email subscriber list.

A great way to do this is to create a special section of your site that offers customers
exclusive discounts or sales, and only show the relevant content to your email
retargeting audience.

Many online shoppers will spend a lot of time browsing your website, clicking on
product categories, reading reviews, and even adding items to their carts, but will
end up leaving without a purchase. If you have a strong email retargeting campaign,
it’s easy to re-engage these inactive shoppers by letting them know that there are
still amazing products available for them to purchase. This can be done by
displaying a simple email that features a list of “top products hand-selected for you”
or a similar message.

For example, Framebridge sends out a quick retargeting email
to visitors who have browsed their top-rated tablet cases. To make the email even
more compelling, they include a 10% off discount code. It’s no surprise that this
email has a high conversion rate.
